The Ben Osborn Memorial Fund is excited to announce that the 2017 Baskets for Ben has been scheduled for May 12 at the Queensbury Hotel.
This 7th Annual event will feature a wide selection of mouthwatering appetizers from numerous local restaurants, a live auction of great items by volunteer Martin Seeley as well as a silent auction and raffles.
Fund President, Bill Osborn, says that they are “very excited to be holding the event at the newly renovated Queensbury Hotel” and that this will be a great opportunity to support a key local charity while mingling with neighbors and friends and looking at the great enhancements that have been made to the hotel.
The Ben Osborn Memorial Fund was created in loving memory of Cpl. Benjamin D. Osborn. Ben was killed during combat operations in Kunar Province, Afghanistan on June 15, 2010 while serving in the US Army during Enduring Freedom. The positive impact Ban made in life will continue on as his legacy through this fund. The fund gives local kids a little lift in honor of Ben’s memory.
This is accomplished through eleven school districts encompassing 32 schools. Over the course of the year, Ben’s Fund assists with items such as school supplies, clothing, bedding, eye and health care, educational tuition, calculators and so much more. For the Christmas initiative, they adopt children, families and charitable organizations with Christmas giving. At the end of the school year they award two $500 scholarships to graduating seniors from each of the participating schools. They also offer a literacy program for providing books to kids anytime, all the time, through Ben’s Book Stations.
